A Century of Family Tradition

The story begins in July 1906, when Don Francisco Rivas Figueroa, decides to step up an small boot shop al Cuenca and Mideros street in the city of Quito, Ecuador. The first boots made in that small shop, were the stard of what La Mundial is today.

In 1935, his son Roberto Rivas Suárez joined to the manufacturing of the boots, maintaining the trade secrets of his father. In 1968 Roberto's daughter, Mrs Sonia Rivas Maldonado entered the business, becoming one the first women in the country engaged in the shoe manufacturing business.

It has passed a century since the first pair of boots were made and La Mundial has delivered superior quality boots to more than one million customers.

Now Roberto Rivas Maldonado continues the tradition exemplified in their motto: “Craft quality footwear by hand and made to order”.
